Where golf meets true nature
Located on the east coast, the Quinta da Ria Resort is a renowned golfing destination in the Algarve. It boasts two spectacular golf courses, Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima, both 18-hole courses with unforgettable scenery. Just over half an hour from Faro International Airport, the Quinta da Ria Resort is perfectly integrated into the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the Algarve's most significant ecosystem. This protected wetland, comprised of a series of barrier islands along the coast, provides a rich natural habitat for numerous biological species. Designed by architect Rocky Roquemore, the Ria course has been described by experienced golfers as the most breathtaking golf course in the region. The pleasant sea views and sandy islands, combined with the mountainous landscape on the opposite side, undoubtedly make Quinta da Ria a golfer's paradise. Quinta de Cima is the championship course and offers diverse and very unique features: wide fairways, well-placed bunkers, and several lakes and streams that demand precise play. The course's water hazards and long fairways emphasize the need for good club selection and challenge even the most experienced players.
Located in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, this 18-hole golf course offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Cacela Velha beach, recently voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Right from the start of your round, you'll recognize the work and design of a world-renowned golf course architect – Rocky Roquemore. The architect's vision was to create a challenging course while preserving the original natural landscape with its thousands of ancient olive and carob trees. Featuring five lakes nestled within the flat terrain, the two sets of nine holes contain a mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s. One of the most iconic features at Quinta da Ria is the 17th hole, which includes a small island in the lake that is now a sanctuary for endangered rare birds.
Designed by renowned American architect Rocky Roquemore, Quinta de Cima was conceived as the golf resort's championship course. The opening par 5 offers a gentle start to the round, but the course becomes increasingly challenging as you progress, with doglegs right and left and undulating greens well protected by large sand bunkers and lakes. Several natural streams also meander through the course, adding to the difficulty. Throughout the course, you'll find many old carob and olive trees, lending the layout a distinctive character. The natural beauty and challenging features of this golf course will keep you coming back for more.
